Crocktober: 31 Days of Slow Cooker Favorites

Crocktober is here, and for the next 31 days the slow cooker is doing the cooking while the whole house fills up with the smell of pot roast, simmering soup, and something cheesy you’ll want to eat straight from the crock.

Crocktober - 31 Days Of Slow Cooker Favorites

That’s the whole idea. One slow cooker favorite for every single day of October, and every one of them is a dinner I make in my own kitchen.

Load it up in the morning, go live your life, and come home to dinner already waiting. Start on Day 1 and cook along, or jump straight to whatever you’re hungry for tonight…

And save room for the finale. Day 31 is the messiest, dunkiest, most glorious sandwich on the whole calendar.

Week 1: Cozy Classics to Kick Off October

Day 1: Crockpot Chicken Noodle Soup

The pot that opens Crocktober had to be the one that smells like somebody loves you. Fresh rosemary and thyme, tender chicken, and wide egg noodles soaking up that golden broth. Make a double batch, because somebody’s catching a cold this month.

Day 2: Crockpot Steak Chili

Big, beefy chunks of chuck roast instead of ground beef, and that’s what makes it. Every spoonful is thick, smoky, and just spicy enough from the jalapeños. Pile on the cheddar and sour cream and call it game night.

Day 3: Crockpot Chicken and Rice

Creamy, cheesy, buttery rice with tender chicken tucked all through it. It’s the dinner picky eaters clean their plates for, peas and all. A whole stick of butter and a pile of cheddar. Yes, please!

Day 4: Crockpot Pot Roast with Gravy

Fork-tender chuck roast that falls apart when you look at it, swimming in rich gravy with a little balsamic tang. A quick sear, then the crock takes it from there for the rest of the day. Spoon it over mashed potatoes and watch it disappear.

Day 5: Crockpot Potato Soup

Thick, velvety Yukon golds, smoky bacon, and a mountain of sharp cheddar melting into every bowl. It’s a loaded baked potato you eat with a spoon. Set out the toppings and let everybody build their own.

Day 6: Dr Pepper Pulled Pork

Two cans of Dr Pepper turn a pork butt into the sweetest, stickiest, fall-apart pulled pork you’ve ever piled on a bun. Extra barbecue sauce and a pickle slice on top, because that crunch matters. It feeds twelve, so invite the neighbors.

Day 7: Mexican Crack Chicken

Creamy, cheesy, melty shredded chicken with a little red pepper heat that sneaks up on you. This one lives in my weekly rotation. Scoop it with tortilla chips, pile it into tacos, or eat it straight from the bowl. Your secret’s safe with me.

Week 2: Comfort Food Week

Day 8: Crockpot Beef Stroganoff

Tender beef and mushrooms in a silky sour cream sauce with a little Dijon bite, all spooned over buttery egg noodles. It tastes like the dinner somebody’s mom saved for company. The slow cooker makes it a Tuesday.

Day 9: Cowboy Stew

Bacon, kielbasa, AND ground beef in one pot. More is more!!! Potatoes, two kinds of beans, and sweet corn make it a hearty, stick-to-your-ribs bowl for a hungry crew.

Day 10: Slow Cooker Shredded Chicken Tacos

Three ingredients. That’s it. Chicken, salsa, and taco seasoning turn into juicy, saucy shredded chicken that covers taco night, burrito bowls, and quesadillas all week long.

Day 11: Crockpot French Onion Soup

Three pounds of sweet onions go low and slow all day until they’re deep, jammy, and golden, the part that usually chains you to the stove. Then comes the toasted baguette under a bubbling blanket of Gruyère. Heavenly.

Day 12: Crockpot Meatloaf

Tender, juicy meatloaf under a sticky, tangy brown sugar glaze. Your oven stays free for the potatoes. And the leftover slices make the best sandwich of the week.

Day 13: Slow Cooker Chicken Cacciatore

Bone-in chicken simmered all afternoon in a rustic tomato sauce with peppers, mushrooms, and briny Kalamata olives. The meat slides right off the bone. Serve it over polenta or pasta to catch every drop of that sauce.

Day 14: Crockpot Tortellini Soup

Plump cheese tortellini floating in a rich, beefy tomato broth. Frozen onions and peppers plus a bag of frozen tortellini make this the easiest soup of the month. Kids slurp this one down.

Week 3: Weeknight Wins

Day 15: Crockpot Ranch Pork Chops

Tender pork chops smothered in a creamy, herby ranch sauce made with cream cheese, dill, and a splash of white wine. You’ll want mashed potatoes or rice to catch every drop. Love, love, love this one.

Day 16: Crock Pot Spaghetti

Frozen meatballs, a jar of sauce, and the noodles cook right in the crock. One pot to wash. This is the dinner for the night everybody’s running in a different direction.

Day 17: Slow Cooker Beef and Broccoli

Tender strips of beef in a sweet, savory soy and brown sugar sauce with broccoli stirred in at the end. Spoon it over steamed rice. Takeout night just got a whole lot cheaper.

Day 18: Chicago Italian Beef Sandwiches

Juicy shredded beef soaked in a peppery, herby broth, piled on a toasted hoagie with melty provolone, roasted red peppers, and pepper rings. Dunk it. That’s how Chicago does it, and Chicago knows.

Day 19: Salsa Verde Chicken

Bright, tangy, and so easy it’s almost embarrassing: a jar of salsa verde, a little cumin, and a squeeze of lime. The chicken shreds right into that tomatillo sauce and soaks up every bit of it. Tacos, rice bowls, nachos, done.

Day 20: Crock Pot Pork Chops and Gravy

Thick-cut chops in a sweet, sticky brown sugar gravy with a little kick from red chile paste. They come out so tender you can cut them with a fork. Rice is mandatory for that gravy.

Day 21: Triple Cheesy Crockpot Mac and Cheese

Cream cheese, sharp cheddar, and pepper jack melt into the creamiest mac and cheese, and the pasta goes in uncooked. Make it dinner or bring it to the potluck. Either way, the crock comes home empty.

Week 4: Big Flavor Week

Day 22: Slow Cooker Cottage Pie

Savory ground beef and vegetables in a rich gravy, tucked under a blanket of buttery mashed Yukon golds and melted cheddar. It’s the coziest dinner on the whole calendar. Scoop deep so you get every layer.

Day 23: Crockpot Cabbage Roll Soup

All the sweet-and-tangy flavor of stuffed cabbage rolls, minus the rolling. Ground beef, rice, and tender cabbage simmer in a tomato broth brightened with brown sugar and cider vinegar. It’s even better on day two.

Day 24: Crockpot Steak Bites

Buttery, garlicky sirloin bites in a rich au jus gravy with sweet onions. Spoon them over mashed potatoes or egg noodles. Steakhouse flavor at a weeknight price.

Day 25: Slow Cooker Chicken Enchilada Casserole

Enchilada night, no rolling required. Saucy shredded chicken, green chiles, and corn tortillas stirred together under a blanket of cheddar that melts and browns around the edges. Grab a big spoon.

Day 26: Crockpot Korean BBQ Beef

Sweet, sticky, garlicky beef with fresh ginger, sesame oil, and a hint of Sriracha heat. Pile it over rice and shower it with green onions and sesame seeds. This is the one that has you licking the spoon.

Day 27: Crock Pot Stuffed Peppers

Bell peppers stuffed with ground beef, hot Italian sausage, and rice, then crowned with fresh mozzarella that melts right down the sides. Pretty enough for company, easy enough for a Wednesday.

Day 28: Slow Cooker Beef Bourguignon

The French classic, made easy. Chuck roast, red wine, baby bellas, and a whopping eight cloves of garlic simmer into a deep, velvety stew. Light a candle, pour yourself a glass of something red, and act like you slaved all day.

The Grand Finale: Days 29 to 31

Day 29: Easy Carnitas

Juicy, citrusy shredded pork with a warm hum of New Mexico chili. It goes under the broiler at the end for those crispy, caramelized edges everybody fights over. Warm tortillas, squeeze of lime, I’m in.

Day 30: Slow Cooker Sausage and Ravioli

Italian sausage, frozen cheese ravioli, tomatoes, and fresh basil, and that’s basically the whole list. It’s hearty, saucy, and on the table with almost zero effort. Shower it with fresh Parmesan and dig in.

Day 31: Crockpot French Dip Sandwiches

The big finish. Tender shredded beef and melted provolone on a toasted roll, with a cup of rich, oniony au jus for dunking. Close out Crocktober the right way: messy, happy, and dripping.

What Is Crocktober?

Crocktober is October, slow cooker style. It’s a whole month of cozy crockpot dinners, one for every day, so the hardest decision you make all month is which one to start with.

Should I Cook Slow Cooker Recipes on Low or High?

Most of these recipes give you both settings. Low is the move for tough cuts like chuck roast and pork butt, because those extra hours give the connective tissue time to melt into that fall-apart texture. High is your friend on busy days, and chicken breasts are happy either way.

Can I Prep Crockpot Dinners the Night Before?

Yes, and it’s the best trick for a busy October. Chop, measure, and load everything into the insert, cover it, and refrigerate it overnight. In the morning, set it in the base and turn it on, and give it a little extra time since it’s starting cold.
