I have one that tastes like peach cobbler and another that’s reminiscent of caramel apples topped with Snickers candy bars.

For a dessert that is similar to this Oreo fluff salad, check out the classic pistachio version made with crushed pineapple and crunchy pecan pieces.

Cheesecake Salad Recipe - Tips and Tricks

  • Save some effort. Crush the cookies in a food processor instead of by hand. Just be sure to use the pulse function so you end up with chunks instead of crumbs.
  • Use chilled bowls. Metal retains the cold better than glass, so use those if you have them. Pop them in the refrigerator for a few minutes before getting started for best results.
  • Want a silkier texture? Replace the heavy cream in the cream cheese mixture with regular milk. You can also fold in a container of Cool Whip instead of whipping the heavy cream by hand.
  • Don’t forget the garnish! Set aside a few whole Oreos to press into individual bowls or turn them into crumbs to dust over the top of the dessert.

Create Different Flavors!

You could easily swap out the sandwich cookies for another variety, as long as they are crunchy to begin with. I wouldn’t recommend softer cookies since they will turn to mush or disintegrate entirely.

Because the cream center of the Oreos adds another layer of sweetness to the finished dessert, this cheesecake salad recipe only calls for a small amount of powdered sugar.

If you will be trying out different cookie combinations, you may need to add extra powdered sugar.

Try tasting the dessert after folding the whipped topping in at the end and add more if you think it needs it.

FAQ - Common Recipe Questions

Can I make this cheesecake salad recipe ahead of time?

You sure can! Mix up the fluff portion and place it in the refrigerator covered tightly with plastic.

Then, stir in the marshmallows and crushed cookies just before serving so they don’t become too soft.

How long does Oreo fluff last in the refrigerator?

It will keep for up to 2 days when covered with plastic or stored in an airtight container.

However, the Oreos and marshmallows will continue to soften the longer it sits, so it’s best when eaten the same day that it is made.

Can I use regular pudding mix instead?

You don't want to use cooked pudding mix for this recipe, since it won’t set up properly.

Prep time: 15 MinTotal time: 15 Min

  • 8 ounce cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 3.4 ounce package of instant cheesecake pudding mix (unprepared)
  • 3 cups heavy whipping cream, divided
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 cups miniature marshmallows
  • 14.3 ounce package Oreo cookies

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese and vanilla extract until fluffy.
  2. Add the cheesecake pudding mixture and beat until fully combined (mixture will be chunky).
  3. With the mixer (or hand beater) running on low speed, slowly drizzle 1 ½ cups of the heavy whipping cream into the cream cheese mixture. Beat well between the addition of small amounts (add only 1 tablespoon at a time).
  4. Add powdered sugar to the cheesecake mixture and continue beating until fully combined.
  5. In a separate mixing bowl, beat remaining 1 ½ cups of heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  6. Use a spatula to gently fold the whipped cream into the cheesecake mixture until fully incorporated.
  7. In a large Ziploc bag, place most of the Oreo cookies, reserving a few whole cookies to use as garnish on the finished salad.
  8. Use a rolling pin to crush the Oreos into pieces (some can be larger chunks and some can be small crumbles).
  9. Add miniature marshmallows and crushed Oreos to the cheesecake mixture and stir gently to combine.
  10. Transfer mixture to a serving bowl, garnish with reserved Oreos and miniature marshmallows and serve immediately.
