Oreo Cookies and Cream Pudding Pops

Pudding pops remind me of my childhood.  I  remember my mom picking them up as a special treat for my dad, but of course he would always share them with us kids.  A 6 pack was gone in an instant to one loving dad and 5 grateful children.  I clearly remember that rich and creamy pudding pop.  It was soft and perfectly chocolate.  But inevitably, it would end and all I would be left with was the stick.

Now, Oreo Pudding Pops…  That’s a whole different ball game.  My favorite shake is the Oreo cookie shake.  The chunks of Oreo in the vanilla shake come together to create this simply fabulous treat.  If given the choice, I would have an Oreo Cookie Shake over any other shake.  But then again, Oreos are my favorite store bought cookie and you could probably serve them with cardboard and I would eat it.  OK, maybe not.  But they are fabulous!

I introduced my Munchkin to Oreo’s this week.  She was quite excited that although mommy said she may have 2 cookies, she actually had “4 cookies and 2 yummy white things too!”  So, I taught her the all important Oreo Cookie Twist.  She got it right away, by the second cookie she was a pro.  It is so exciting.  We don’t often indulge in store bought cookies, so when we do it is truly a treat.

That is the way we like it.  Most days we enjoy yogurt ice pops,
black bean brownies or chocolate banana ice cream.  Then every once in a
great while Munchkin gets to dive into 2 Oreo cookies and she is beside
herself with enjoyment.

Well, aside from Munchkin loving
these… Chad and I were in heaven. They taste exactly like our favorite
Oreo Cookie Shake from Jack in the Box.  Can you see those fantastic Oreo chunks in there ?  OH MY!  We love these and will be
making them again really soon.

With love from our Kitchen Table to yours!

Prep Time 5 mins
Inactive Time 4 hrs
Total Time 4 hrs 5 mins
Course Dessert
Cuisine American
Method Freezer
Servings 10 pudding pops

Ingredients

  • 3.4 ounce package instant vanilla pudding
  • 2 cups half and half, or 1 cup milk and 1 cup heavy cream
  • 20 Oreo cookies, divided (finely crush 10 cookies and chop 10 cookies)

Instructions

  • Pour half and half in a tall medium size mixing bowl. Sprinkle pudding mix over top. Add crushed Oreo’s. Beat with an electric mixer until pudding thickens.
  • Fill each mold about 3/4 full of pudding. Add chopped cookies and push them into the pudding using the back of a spoon. Cover, add sticks and freeze for 4-24 hours.
  • Remove from molds and freeze.
  • I like to store pudding pops in individual sandwich bags. Then place all bags into a gallon size freezer bag. It helps the pops start fresh in the freezer.

  1. These look SOOO good! I fall for any desserts that feature Oreos. I rarely buy them too, maybe afraid I'd inhale a whole pack in a matter of seconds. 😀 I'd so love to try these. Can these be made without the vanilla pudding though? I've enevr seen vanilla pudding sold here and wonder if maybe Greek Yogurt can be substituted.

    1. The Greek yogurt would work, but the flavor would be very different. I would try to make vanilla pudding. Where do you live, maybe there is a pudding substitute we can think of.

  2. I printed your recipe out and made them. My first foray into cookies and cream pudding pops, I really want to thank you for the easy step by step instructions! They're really wonderfully yummy! 🙂
