Dole Whip Recipe Ingredients
You only need a few simple ingredients to make this iconic Disney treat.
You will need to have frozen pineapple chunks, coconut milk (or dairy milk if you prefer), sugar for sweetness, and a dash of lemon and lime juice with a pinch of salt.
And, you can also use extra pineapple slices to garnish if you like. That’s everything you need.
As a note, if you want a less sweet Dole Whip, you can leave out the sugar. Or, you can use a sweetener like Stevia if you are watching your carbs.

The pineapple-flavored ice cream was created by Dole (the fruit company) in the 1980s.
However, it wasn’t until Disneyland and Walt Disney World started to serve the frozen treat that it achieved its current cult-like fandom.
Do I need an ice cream maker for this recipe?
No, you don’t need to have an ice cream maker for this Dole Whip recipe. But, you do need a food processor to get the ingredients to a creamy consistency. You may also be able to do it with a high powered blender.
How do I serve this?
You can either scoop it out of the food processor into a cup, or you can fill a pastry bag. Piping it into the cup gives your Dole Whip the signature swirly soft serve look you get at Disney.
If you want that signature soft serve look, you will want to use a large, star-shaped decorative tip with your 16″ piping bag.
But, it is delicious either way. Just serve it in festive glasses with either a straw or a long-handled spoon.
Why not try adding one of those little paper umbrellas to the top for a festive look.
Are Dole Whips vegan?
Yes, if you use coconut milk when you make this Dole Whip recipe, it will be vegan. According to Disney, all of the Dole Whip flavors are vegan and gluten-free.
Tips to make this Dole Whip recipe
- It’s easy to turn this drink into a Dole whip float! Fill a glass half full of pineapple juice and then layer some Dole whip on top.
- If you’d like a creamier whip, consider adding one small banana to the recipe. This will impact the taste (which is why it’s not included in the recipe) but it will make the whip have a thicker texture.
- Finally, if you’d like the whip to be firmer, freeze it for 30 minutes after blending, then spoon out to serve.
- If you have leftovers, you can freeze them. You may need to defrost them for a few minutes to make them more scoopable.

Dole Whip Recipe (Pineapple) + Video
- 2 cup frozen pineapple, ideally Dole brand
- 1/3 cup coconut milk, or any milk of your choice
- 3 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon lime juice
- 1 pinch salt
- Pineapple slices, for garnish (optional)
- In a food processor, add frozen pineapple, coconut milk, sugar, lemon juice, lime juice, and salt. Blend ingredients until smooth and there are no more pineapple chunks, about 3-5 minutes.
- Serve Dole whip immediately in festive glasses with straws or dessert spoons. If you’d like whip to be firmer, freeze for 30 minutes, then serve.

Coconut milk from a refrigerated carton or thick, coconut milk from a can?
Prob wouldnt make a difference. It says you can use any milk you want so i would use either one if i were you.
