Happy Wednesday Slow Roasters! Most Wednesdays we like to take it down a notch and share a more homemade recipe with you. Something that you may normally buy in the store and share a great way to make it homemade. Today is another Homemade Wednesday!
We were fortunate enough to get a great deal on apples recently. So I made this naturally sweet apple sauce and some fantastic Dried Apple Chips that we love so much they are almost gone. The Crock Pot Spiced Apple Butter was a huge hit and you will see another recipe posted Friday using that apple butter. Today we are talking about applesauce.
I have been making applesauce for Munchkin since she was first eating baby food. I have always loved the simplicity of the deep apple flavor that you get from baking it (and so has she). Now that she is two her favorite applesauce is Baked Cinnamon Applesauce. She eats it in everything. Baked Cinnamon Applesauce swirled in oatmeal is a favorite breakfast. Applesauce swirled in yogurt is a perfect play date snack. Mixed with pork or chicken and warmed has been at our dinner table many times this week and served warm with cereal crumbles on top is a favorite for dessert.
I am sure you will love this applesauce! It was developed for Munchkin, but loved by all. I made a double batch and I am looking for another apple sale already!
Enjoy!
With love, from our simple kitchen to yours.

I haven't tried this method but can't wait to try it out on my grandson when he starts eating baby food. Lovely photos and great ideas. Have a wonderful Wednesday!
How exciting. I loved making baby food for my munchkin. Back then I put the apples in a pan with a little water and a sprinkle of brown sugar and cinnamon. She couldn't get enough even then. Have a fantastic day!
I've never made homemade apple sauce, but I'm sure it would taste fabulous! I remember having to eat it at the dinner table when I was young, and for some reason gag every time I eat it now, ha! But I have a feeling I wouldn't mind eating your homemade version. ๐
I love this kind of applesauce, chunky, sweet and cinnamon! Love that you bake it too, I've never tried that! Thanks!
This was so delicious. Very sweet and a nice flavor of cinnamon, with a great texture!
