I am sure you will love this applesauce! It was developed for Munchkin, but loved by all. I made a double batch and I am looking for another apple sale already! Enjoy!
4 1/2poundsFuji applesor a combination of your favorites
1/4cupbrown sugar
1tablespooncinnamon
1teaspoonkosher salt
1teaspoonvanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350. Spray a baking dish with non-stick cooking spray and line with parchment paper. The spray helps the parchment stay on the pan. Set aside.
Peel, core and slice apples.
Place into a large bowl and toss with vanilla, sugar, cinnamon and salt.
Place apples in baking dish and sprinkle any mixture remaining in the bowl over your apples. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 60 minutes. Remove from oven and keep covered for 30 minutes.
Remove cover and puree in blender. Pour applesauce into quart jar and refrigerate. Keeps in the refrigerator for up to 6 months (I have never been able to make it last longer, we like it too much!).
Notes
If you would like, this applesauce can be canned by processing in a water bath according to the manufacturers instructions and be stored for a longer period of time.
