Strawberry Banana Smoothie
We love this fruit smoothie. Munchkin even has her very own smoothie cup. She adores Strawberry Banana Smoothies.
I enjoy the protein in this smoothie from the yogurt, especially when she is being finicky I feel good about giving her a great breakfast. It is so good, in fact, that I sometimes double the recipe and make ice pops too.
In the morning I move as slow as molasses going uphill in the summer. I really have tried to be the wife and mom that gets up and makes a hot, homemade breakfast first thing in the morning. But, more times than not we are heating up Crockpot Oatmeal or Eggs that I made ahead.
Don’t get me wrong; I plan ahead, so we are not grabbing a box of cereal every day. So, I planned out a breakfast menu. To alternate what we are eating. It is especially for my daughter. I don’t want anyone to tire of our menu, so I mix it up. Oatmeal, make-ahead gluten-free pancakes, make-ahead French toast with fruit and cereal is pretty much our menu. To mix it up so no one tires of our menu, I add our favorite smoothie now and then.
Our go-to smoothie recipe is this Strawberry Banana Smoothie. It is a power packed breakfast smoothie with plenty of protein from the yogurt and enough fruit to sweeten up your day. For a different and amazing flavor try this Pomegranate Banana Smoothie. Or check out our Top 10 Blender Recipes.
Ingredient Notes
I love yogurt in smoothies, and you can really change them up any way you like. I enjoy mine par-frozen, so I will use frozen strawberries or frozen bananas. It makes it a little thicker, so it takes longer to eat and feels more satisfying that way.
If you are out of frozen fruit, it is perfectly delicious made with all fresh fruit too!
I often double the recipe and pour the extra into ice pop molds for a fabulous protein packed afternoon snack for my daughter. We keep a few dozen ice pops on hand to grab for snacks and treats.
If just my daughter and I are eating this smoothie, we also will add a handful or so of kale and spinach for an incredible boost. If you want a little more protein, you can also use Greek yogurt. That will thicken up the smoothie too, so add more orange juice as desired to thin it out.
No matter how you make it, you are going to love it.
Enjoy!
With love, from our simple kitchen to yours.
