3 Ingredient Homemade Strawberry Syrup

At our brunch a few weeks ago my 3 year old went crazy over this strawberry syrup.  We made her a stack of strawberry shortcake pancakes with this scrumptious syrup drizzled over.  It was so good the family called for an encore, resulting in an awesome pancake Sunday the next day.

Well, as we enjoyed this Homemade Strawberry Syrup so much that we found ways to use it, like on the Strawberry Shortcake Tiramisu.  Although I must say eating it off a spoon is perfectly delicious.

Orange Amaretto Syrup - unlike any syrup you have ever had; bright citrusy, thick & delicious w/a hint of almond to bring it all together.

Better than Hershey's Chocolate Syrup  is a super simple homemade chocolate syrup - with only 4 ingredients you CAN pronounce. Sugar, cocoa, vanilla and salt. You'll thank me!

Homemade Strawberry Syrup makes about 1 pint syrup
1/2 pound ripe strawberries, washed and hulled
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla bean paste (or vanilla extract)
In a medium saucepan combine strawberries and sugar.  Smash strawberries and turn heat to medium.  Bring to a boil, reduce to simmer for 10 minutes without a cover.
Remove from heat, add vanilla and stir.  Enjoy warm on pancakes.  Allow to cool to room temperature before using for ice cream and cocktails


  1. There have been so many strawberry recipes on the blogs this week that it's nice to see them used in a different way- I've never made any kind of syrup, but this sounds so easy! And strawberry + vanilla? I'm in!

  6. Super easy recipe. I didn't care for the vanilla flavor in the strawberries, so I made another batch with just sugar and strawberries and it was wonderful. To each his own!

    1. Another favorite variation is using orange juice in place of the vanilla. It gives it a fabulous depth and brightness. Thanks for stopping by!

    1. I have never tried it myself, but it makes perfect sense. Use a sugar substitute that you have cooked with before. Splenda cooks well and I have heard Swerve cooks very well too. Let me know how it goes. Enjoy!
