Cherry Dump Cake (Video)

Cherry Dump Cake is very easy to make with few ingredients, ready in 50 minutes, and loaded with delicious cherry pie filling!

Cherry Dump Cake recipe is one of the easiest recipes you will ever try! The Cake is made with only 3 ingredients, and topped with your favorite ice cream.

The idea behind this cake is you “dump” the ingredients together, and then bake them.

Cherry Dump Cake

This would be the perfect dessert for cherry lovers, as it’s rich, moist and full of cherry pie filling.

Similarly, if you are not a cherries fan, they can easily be substituted with your favorite pie fillings, such as apple pie filling or peach pie filling. The result will be just as delicious!

For this recipe, I usually use yellow cake mix or white cake mix, but it can be done with chocolate cake mix, or even angel food cake mix.

Also, for extra flavor and a tropical twist, you can add 1 cup of crushed pineapple to the cherry pie filling. The combo mix is great, and it adds that extra tropical twist to it.

How to store Cherry Dump Cake?

Freshly baked Cherry Dump Cake can be stored for about 3 to 4 days at normal room temperature. Also, you can refrigerate the cake for about 1 week. Cover with foil or plastic wrap to prevent cake from drying out.

Helpful Tips to make Cherry Dump Cake:

  • I used the conventional cherry pie filling in this recipe. It tastes great, bakes well, and is perfect in this recipe.
  • You can use more or less cherry filling, I like mine bursting with cherries so I used 2 cans of cherry pie filling.
  • In addition, the cherry pie filling can be substituted with apple pie filling, or peach pie filling.
  • Similarly, you can use raspberry preserves, or even fresh cherries, blueberries or blackberries.
  • For toppings, I use vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. However, you can use your favorite flavored ice cream.

What you will need to make Cherry Dump Cake:

  • 9x13 Baking Dish - I have my favorites and this set is one of them. The 9x13 is perfect for casseroles and the smaller size is awesome for making 1/2 a casserole recipe.
