Air Fryer Burger Recipe Ingredients and Substitutions

  • Frozen Burger Patties – I use 4-ounce beef patties, and double them up, but you could use a couple of larger patties if you prefer!

Just give the meat a bit longer before flipping.

Want to use a different protein? You can follow the same recipe instructions and make turkey burgers, chicken burgers, or a plant-based alternative!
  • Kosher Salt – Large grain salt will add more flavor than table salt. If you’d like, add a bit of black pepper and/or steak seasoning.
  • Optional Toppings – Cheese, Big Mac Sauce, tomatoes, pickles, onions… The works! Pile on your favorite hamburger toppings.

always add bacon and BBQ sauce to my burgers.

Adding Toppings to Air Fryer Hamburgers

Don’t try adding toppings to frozen burgers in the air fryer, because you’ll end up with a mess inside the basket. Wait until the fryer is off before adding anything else.

If you want melted cheese, lay it on the still-hot air fryer hamburgers and cover them while it melts.

You can also transfer the air fried hamburgers to a plate, add the cheese, and cover with tented tinfoil – that should do the trick, too!

Storing and Reheating Leftovers

Keep leftover patties in an airtight container for up to 4 days in the fridge. I won’t give you any details for freezing leftovers, because… Well…

They were just frozen! If that’s the route you want to go, then just wait and follow the recipe as usual.

To reheat, the microwave is your best bet so as not to dry them out. Throw them in for 15 seconds once or twice until warmed through the center.

Add cheese if that suits your fancy!

Frozen Burgers in Air Fryer FAQ

How long do you cook frozen burgers in the air fryer?

It takes 14 minutes to cook four 4oz frozen burgers in the air fryer at 370°F. Be sure to flip them halfway through!

Can you cook raw hamburger in an air fryer?

You absolutely can! You can start with the recipe for frozen burgers, but making raw hamburgers in the air fryer takes less time – closer to 3 or 4 minutes per side. As always, let the internal temp of the meat be your guide.

Are air fryer burgers mushy?

They certainly shouldn’t be. With high heat and even cooking, and making sure the center of the patty reaches 165°F, your burger should be nice and firm.

This may occur if the patties have defrosted a little, leaving the center frozen but the exterior thawed, or if they’ve been in the freezer too long and are freezer burnt.

What seasonings should I add to the frozen hamburger patty?

Make sure that you flavor the burger any way that you want. You can add garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper – and don’t forget to pile your favorite toppings high once the burger is done.

How much seasoning you add just depends on the size of the burgers – but the good news is that the frozen patty tends to taste good with just about any and all options. A little seasoning goes a long way!

What side dishes should I pair with air fryer frozen burgers?

The best part about making these juicy air fryer hamburgers is that you can add any type of sides that you want. A side of french fries never disappoints, and adding onion rings creates the perfect quick meal. Potato chips are also great for making your own “fast food” meal at home.

Can I make air fryer turkey burgers?

You bet! The air fryer cooks all types of meat and can easily turn it into a tasty burger. The fun part about making this air fryer burger is that it’s versatile in how it can be created. Your perfect burger awaits – and using turkey instead of beef is perfect if you don’t want a lot of grease.

Since beef high a high fat content, you may find that the best burgers for your cravings and quick dinner might be a turkey or chicken burger. This is why air fryer burger recipes are so versatile! You can make a delicious burger any way that you want, all due to how quick and easy air frying is!
