Air Fryer Garlic Knots - Helpful Tips and Tricks

  • Work in batches. It’s important not to cook too many at one time, since the dough will rise and expand. Leave extra space between each one so the outside can brown evenly as well.
  • Use pizza or biscuit dough instead. Since crescent rolls already come in sheets, using them cuts down on prep time. However, any type of refrigerated or fresh dough will work for this easy garlic knots recipe. Just roll it out thin before cutting into strips and proceed as directed.
  • Add a little heat. A dash of red pepper flakes will kick things up a notch!
  • Don’t need as many? Easily halve the recipe and save the remaining crescent roll sheet for later. Trust me, though - you will end up eating more than expected. They’re that good!
  • Freeze leftovers. Place extras in ziploc bag and store for up to 3 months. You may want to wrap them individually in plastic as well to prevent ice crystals from forming on the surface.

  • Cutting Board - A big solid cutting board makes prepping a breeze. I use mine daily, so it’s worth the investment to get a good quality one.
  • Pastry Wheel - This helps make clean, even strips of dough but a pizza cutter or sharp knife will work in a pinch.
  • Basting Brush - I prefer this type over the silicone ones since it creates a more even layer of melted butter.

All you need is a simple marinara or ranch dressing, just like at your favorite pizzeria! Or, double the amount of butter and herbs for extra dunking.

Can I make these in the oven instead?

Yes! In fact, that’s a great alternative when making a larger batch or if you want them to be done all at once.

Place the dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving an inch or two of space between for each one to expand. Then, bake at 350°F for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown.

Air Fryer Garlic Knots

These air fryer garlic knots are tender, flaky, and bursting with flavor. Make a batch in 20 minutes for an easy addition to any family meal.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounce can crescent roll sheet
  • 4 tablespoons salted butter (melted)
  • 1/4 cup finely grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons parsley flakes
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer for 5 minutes at 300 degrees F.
  2. Unroll crescent dough onto a large cutting board into a flat rectangle.
  3. Using a pizza cutter, cut the crescent dough in half the short way, and then into 1-inch strips.
  4. Tie/fold each strip into a knot.
  5. Place 5 to 6 knots (or more depending on your air fryer) at a time in the air fryer and cook for 5 minutes.
  6. Remove the knots from the air fryer and place them on a cooling rack. Continue cooking until all are cooked.
  7. In a small bowl, mix together melted butter, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder.
  8. Brush the melted butter mixture onto the knots, then top with grated Parmesan cheese and parsley. Serve warm.
DONNA'S NOTES
  1. I use the Cosori 8.5 quart air fryer, so depending on your air fryer size you may be able to cook more knots at a time.
  2. These can also be baked in the oven at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
