The power of pomegranate may help boost fat burning too.

Kick start your diet with a skinny shake!

This tasty detoxifying drink will knock your socks off. It's a simple recipe for a scrumptious strawberry pomegranate smoothie, enjoyed once a day, mid-morning.

I love smoothies and the strawberry and pomegranate flavors here are insanely delicious.

If you love fruity flavored drinks but you don't need a detox drink, make a strawberry banana smoothie instead!

Other drink recipes that are sure to become family favorites are blueberry banana milkshakes and banana orange smoothies.

What's in this detoxifying drink?

So, a few years ago on the Dr. Oz show a 7-Day crash diet was featured that really piqued my interest.  Dr. Joel Fuhrman was the guest.

He discussed many ways to kick start fat burning in your body, and who doesn't want that?! One of my favorite parts of Dr. Fuhrman's plan is this detoxifying drink, which he calls a "Skinny Shake".

INGREDIENTS

This fruity drink doesn't get any simpler to make. It's pure, healthy fresh fruit and water.

Pomegranates are classified as a superfruit. They are an antioxidant, and they're full of vitamins and nutrients.

Strawberries, as well as other berries, are lower in carbs, so they don't spike blood sugar like other high sugar fruits can.

Needless to say, this is my favorite healthy drink. My entire family loves it, and it's packed with flavor and it's really refreshing. This makes it the perfect mid morning pick me up.

We try to balance eating healthy, and little treats like this one certainly help.

A healthy breakfast and a fat burning morning snack sure make the occasional treat a lot easier on the hips.

Helpful Tips For Making a Skinny Shake:

  1. Be sure to layer the ingredients in the blender.

  2. Scrape the sides down as often as necessary.

  3. Use a high powered blender for best results.

  4. If you have a standard blender and not a high speed model, try using 1/4 fresh strawberries and 3/4 frozen. This will help make the blending easier.

  5. For a super thick shake-like consistency, add a few ice cubes to the blender.

What you'll need to make the detoxifying drink

  • BlenderYou can use any blender, but I absolutely love this high speed model! I use it to make ice cream, smoothies, soups, tomato sauce and drinks like this one.
Enjoy!

With love from our simple kitchen to yours.

    1. Skip the pomegranate juice and substitute actual pomegranate kernels or blueberries. Also, you should be able to find unsweetened pomegranate juice or unsweetened cranberry juice in a local health market.

  12. I put the recipe into my go meals app because I am diabetic and for the whole recipe it looks like 324 cal., 78g carbs, 4g protein, and 0 fat. It says the recipe is 2 serving so I hope that gives you all an idea. I am going to be trying this Thank you for the recipe. Love to all <3

  15. Well I had my husband go out and buy the ingredients to make this smoothie and I am not sure it is for diabetics. So for the full recipe with the ingredients I got it is 500 calories, 138g carbs, 0 fat, and 3g protein. Now she did say that the recipe was two servings so it would break down to 250 calories, 69g carbs, 0 fat and 1.5 protein. Still for diabetics (at least for me) I am restricted to 45g of carbs. I guess if you are just watching your calorie intake and not your carbs this doesn't seem bad at all. I just know I will have to reduce my quantity even more to be able to drink it, but I am still going to give it a try. Love to all and I hope this helps. xoxo ~A
