Caramel Apple Pie Bombs Recipe Notes
Everyone loves apple pie but sometimes I just want something a little bit different. If you’re hoping to try a new fall dessert this year, you are going to love these easy caramel apple pie bombs.
These explode with flavor and are loaded with ooey-gooey deliciousness.
This bread is super simple, great for a party, and can be prepped ahead of time if you’re in a pinch when party planning. It’s a great touch on a holiday table as an alternative to traditional rolls.

- Can the recipe be made with other types of dough?
Yes, you can make this pull-apart bread recipe with different types of bread or biscuit dough. Just roll the individual pieces of dough into small flat balls or bombs to use them.
- Can you make this pull-apart bread recipe with canned pie filling?
If you don’t have fresh apples, you can use apple pie filling instead. Or, you can change up the type of pie filling and use peach or blueberry for different types of dessert bombs.

- Flattening the dough
You can use a rolling pin or you can pull the dough around the edges like you are making a mini pizza. Or, you can flatten them with a tortilla press.
- Caramel on the loose!
If any of the delicious caramel escapes during cooking, scoop it up and spoon it over the top as a sauce.

- Making this recipe ahead
To prep ahead of time, make the apple pie filling and set it aside. Then, assemble the pie bombs and cover them with plastic wrap until you want to bake them.

Storing, freezing, and reheating pie bombs
I love the way this autumn dessert tastes warm right out of the oven. It really is the best way to enjoy it since the biscuits are light and fluffy and the caramel is gooey and melted.
- Storing instructions
These caramel apple pie bombs are really best when you first take them out of the oven. But, if you want to store them, you can keep them in the refrigerator for 3 to 5 days in a tightly covered baking dish.

- Can I freeze apple caramel pie bombs?
If you need to, you can freeze this apple dessert, but the quality is much better when you make it the first time.
Place the leftovers in a freezer-proof container and store them for up to 6 months in the freezer.
- Reheating leftovers
Before reheating leftovers, first allow them to thaw in the refrigerator overnight.
After they thaw out, place them on a sheet pan in a 325 F. oven and allow them to warm slowly, until the filling is hot and bubbly.

Enjoy!
With love from our simple kitchen to yours.

Made these today for my husband to take to a church committee meeting and was looking forward to trying the leftovers. They each are two pieces because our was so amazing! Guess I'll be making it again soon so I can finally eat it!
Im hoping you reply to this, as i noticed the last few questions never got answered. does the dinner rolls need to be prepared (allowed to thaw and rise) or just thaw them until soft and then roll them out?? thanks in advance!!
I would just thaw, roll and fill..they will rise when baking…
Can u use canned biscuits instead ?
Can you use apple pie filling instead of apples?
Yes!
Made these tonight for thanksgiving 2020! I used the canned pillsbury biscuit dough because I couldnโt find the frozen rolls and it worked out perfectly! I was so worried lol. But these were absolute ooey gooey goodness. My only complaint was I wanted more apples to fit inside the pouches.
You can also use Pillsbury crescent rolls, as well as the biscuits. Both taste awesome!
Not sure if the puff pastry would be "sturdy" enough for the filling.
I love these apple pie bombs. The caramel apple taste inside the nice warm pie was amazing.
I have made this several times since finding this recipe! My kids love it! I add a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream, and it is perfect! Also, I use Kraft caramel bits, because itโs hard to cut their caramels into thirds (arthritic hands), and is still yummy!
Hi Tara,
We are so happy to hear that, we absolutely love them!

I can’t find frozen dough so I just make dough in my bread maker. I just roll them out, and fill them like in recipe, but I let them rise 45 min before cooking. Delish!!
Hi Cerrina,
We are happy to hear that!!! Have a great day!
