Ladies and gentlemen, it is Thursday and you know what that means! It's Ladies Night and all the ladies receive the special VIP treatment. When I was years younger Thursday night would find me out with the girls at a club with no cover charge and half price drinks.
Ladies night then evolved into a girls VIP treatment hosted at my house. No matter how or where you celebrate, come check out our ladies special every Thursday at The Slow Roasted Italian where we will be featuring one special drink for all you ladies out there. So, kick off your heels, pamper yourself and fix yourself a drink (virgin or not).
Guys, of course you are welcome too!
Today's special is the fabulous Lemon Drop Martini served at the Legends Ball by Oprah Winfrey. Whether you are an Oprah fan or not you are going to LOVE LOVE LOVE this martini. It truly is like a lemon drop in a glass!
Recipe adapted from Oprah Winfrey
Lemon Drop Martini
Juice of 3 lemons (about 3/4 cup fresh lemon juice)
2 tablespoons super fine sugar (plus about 1/4 cup to sugar-rim the martini glass)
2 fresh mint leaves
2 shots vodka
Ice in shaker
1 lemon wedge (to sugar-rim the martini glass)
Pour about 1/4 cup super fine sugar onto a saucer slightly larger than your martini glass rim. Prepare your glasses by rubbing the rim of your glass with your lemon wedge.
Place rim of glass in sugar and spin slowly to coat the rim.
Mix lemon juice, sugar and vodka in a martini shaker filled with ice. Shake well and pour into sugar-rimmed martini glass. Garnish with mint.
NOTE: You can make your own super fine sugar by running granulated sugar in the food processor.
