Preheat the airfryer to 370°F. Wash and core apples. Cut into wedges (about 12 wedges per apple). Set aside.
In a shallow bowl, whisk egg and set aside. In a second shallow bowl, combine almond flour, cinnamon, and brown sugar. In the third bowl, make cinnamon-sugar mix by combining white sugar and cinnamon.
Coat apple wedges in egg, then in flour mixture. Spray fryer basket with oil. Place apples in air fryer, leaving space in between. Spray apples with a small amount of oil. Cook for 4-5 minutes. Remove apples from the air fryer and immediately sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar.
Repeat step 3 with remaining apple wedges. (Clean fryer basket in between batches if any coating is remaining). Serve immediately.
Great served plain, with caramel sauce, vanilla ice cream, or whipped cream.
Notes
Air fryer used was 4 liters. 3 batches made about 24 fries. This recipe uses unpeeled apples, but you can peel them if you prefer. If using vegetable oil, place oil on paper towel, rub basket, and dab apples lightly.Apples are done when they are slightly tender. They should still have a little bite to them. Cooking too long can lead to mushy apples, so check before cook time is up, especially if using smaller wedges. As a shortcut, purchase premade cinnamon-sugar mix found in the spice section.
