What's Sizzling on TSRI This Week

What's Sizzling on TSRI This Week?  Our hottest recipes! Where else to find us! What we are up to! It has been a really crazy week here, but no matter what the week has in store there are always amazing times with incredible people and the best food and we are so excited to share it with you.

Chad and I took some time to evaluate our lives and priorities this week, after he and I witnessed a tragic incident. It really knocked us off our feet. I guess that is normal. For us it was a good time to remember to hold close to what is most important to us, for us that is family (and God, of course). So what did that mean? Well, more fun, more time together and enjoying everyday because we were never promised tomorrow.

Family, food and fun has been our theme this week. We are planning 2 trips for next month to spend time together and make memories, if we don't take time to enjoy it what is the point?

To start we made a lot of forts in the living room this week. Chad is absolutely the best fort maker ever. I will have to snap a picture of the next one. We watched a movie in the fort, had tea parties, read books together. It has been amazing.

Munchkin (now 5 1/2 years old) has been enjoying our family reading time. We have been reading Charlotte's Web and it is amazing to watch her hang on every word and she gets so excited to read tomorrow. Tonight is the last chapter and we will be watching the movie this weekend on Sunday (family day). I also found this awesome 1973 version that is free with Amazon Prime.

So, I went ahead and picked out our next book too. I think she is going to love it!

Family, food and fun carried over to our kitchen this week too. As we were working on our newest twist on peach cobbler (IT WILL BLOW YOUR MIND), we certainly had fun. Laughing dancing, making messes (and memories) as Chad, Munchkin and I laughed, danced and baked together. Then of course we went and shared all those test recipes with family and friends.

Italian Herb Baked Meatballs are our family's favorite meatball ever! They are loaded with fresh herbs and cheese. They are bursting with flavor.  You can make pasta sauce, but there is truly no need. They are the best daggum meatballs ever!  No sauce required. Simple recipe, magnificent meatballs!

The Best Ever Oven Roasted Corn is prepped and ready to go in the oven in just 10 minutes.  This recipe is so simple you will be making it all summer long!  Easy to cook ahead and take with you.  Awesome served warm or room temperature.

Crockpot Pork Chops are the easiest slow cooker recipe ever. Toss and go. Toss it all in the crockpot and you return to perfectly tender, melt in your mouth pork cooked in the most spectacular sauce.  It is a little sweet, a little spicy, a little barbequey (yes I made that word up) and a lot delicious. Prepped in just 5 minutes.

Blueberry Almond Breakfast Cake is the perfect combination of blueberry and almond in a tender butter cake. This recipe comes together so easily with just a handful of ingredients you will find yourself whipping it up all year long. Perfect for making any time of year with fresh or frozen fruit.

Here are some yummy throwback photos, those sweet potato fries haunt my dreams. That is Chad in the center driving Nascar last year. He can' wait for October when he gets to do it again. Honestly, now when we talk about driving, he says "It's okay. I drove Nascar." LOLOL He cracks me up.

Disneyland plans are all set now we just need to figure out how to tell Munchkin. Do we wait until we leave or tell her now? Well my Pinterest is filling up with practical shoes, things to do and what to eat.  We have never been so we are making this trip extra special for Munchkin. So, tell me everything. What should we do, see, eat???

I am a Pandora radio (and jewelry, but that is another story LOL) lover and I hook it up through my amazing Amazon Echo so I just say from across the room "Alexa, play Pandora" and it plays my last Pandora station which lately has been "Hey Soul Sister".  I love the upbeat songs and it is perfect for spontaneous dancing, bursts of 'belt it out singing' and keeping it fun. What is your favorite station?

So, our second trip next month is to Houston. I have never been so that should be exciting. I have no clue what to do, where to go or what to eat so I would love to hear your thoughts.

On the home front, it is August and it is still so hot. The kitchen is the warmest part of the house year round, so I like to try and keep it cool in the summer by limiting the stove and oven use. There is a lot of crockpot cooking and cold sandwiches and salads. Quick and easy one pot meals are common too.

I hope you enjoyed catching up! {{Let me know in the comments below.}}

With love from our simple kitchen to yours.
