Serving suggestions

Typically, a Sex on the Beach drink is served in a tall hurricane glass. But, you can serve it in a wine glass or even a highball glass if you prefer.

Basically, you want a tall thin glass for this drink. If you're planning on serving this at a party, you can put it in a beverage dispenser and let everyone help themselves.

If you plan on serving it in a beverage dispenser, serve the garnishes on the side so everyone can add their own when they get their drink.

You can float a few orange slices on top of the drink in the dispenser just to make it look pretty. If you want to add a garnish to your drink, traditionally you would use maraschino cherries.

But, you can also garnish it with an orange slice or half an orange slice if you're out of cherries. Why not go all out and add cherries, an orange slice, and one of those cute little umbrellas.

  1. I grew up in Florida and my favorite beach was probably "Writing on the road", a uncrowded beach break in an undeveloped (at the time) stretch of A1A between Ponte Vedra and St Augustine. Nice waves when they broke 3' or more, no police presence to curtail beach parties, and no townies.

Hard to believe these were invented in the late 80's since we had them all the time but I guess memory could be off :)

    1. No, not off. I drank these in the 70's.

  2. We were serving these in bars in upstate NY in the mid 80's. I know this for sure because I was a bartender then. So Florida must have been behind the times. Oh...and Clearwater...best beach if you want to hang and have some fun. St. Augustine, best for relaxation....

  3. Fell in love with this drink when I was in Cancun! Finish filling the glass with orange juice...what size glass? I'm thinking the amount of orange juice would affect the taste.

  4. any suggestions on a substitute for cranberry juice? Outside the US it can be hard to find.

    1. I make mine the same, but instead of cranberry juice, i use pineapple juice...it is amazing

    2. Pineapple juice us great. Add a splash of amarito with it too.

  5. We're twinsies (well, almost) today! I love this cocktail, I've always wondered what was in it. Love the combo of peach and vodka and cranberry!

  6. Randome side note - you mentioned jamming to Poison. They happen to be my favorite band, just as this is currently my favorite recipe site ;)

  7. Instead of grenadine I put a splash of ameretto in the sex on the beach

  8. I make mine with pineapple juice instead of orange juice and instead of peach schnapps, I use midori and chambord

    1. Whoops. I use peach schnapps, midori and chambered.

  9. The mix and ingredients are quite expensive...
