3 Ingredient Homemade Strawberry Syrup is a luscious fresh strawberry sauce ready in just 15 minutes! This is the perfect simple recipe to get your taste buds talking this summer.

3 Ingredient Homemade Strawberry Syrup
Strawberry season is upon us and as I find myself making batch after batch of jams and sauces I knew I had to share this recipe with you. My favorite memory with this syrup goes back a few years...

At a blogger brunch we hosted a few years back we set up a fantastic pancake bar. There were tons of topping options and several recipe suggestions. One of the most popular recipes was the Very Berry Strawberry Shortcake Pancakes. Everyone loved all of the combinations, but my then 3 year old (now 5) went absolutely crazy over this strawberry syrup.

We made her a stack of strawberry shortcake pancakes with this scrumptious syrup drizzled over them. A simplified version of the very decadent pancakes previously mentioned.  You may have caught that photo on Instagram

It was so good the family called for an encore, resulting in an awesome pancake Sunday the very next day and pretty much every Sunday for the next 2 months.

Well, as we all loved this homemade strawberry syrup so much, we found ourselves using on everything and creating recipes with it like this Strawberry Shortcake Tiramisu.  Although I must say eating it off a spoon is perfectly delicious.

No matter how you eat it, you are going to fall in love with this summertime staple.

Helpful Tips to make 3 Ingredient Homemade Strawberry Syrup:

  • I love big chunks of strawberry in my syrup, but you can dice the strawberries to get smaller chunks or even run them through a blender before cooking them for a pretty smooth sauce.
  • You can use frozen strawberries, just thaw them first.
  • The longer you cook the sauce the thicker it will be.
  • The syrup will keep for weeks in the refrigerator.

  1. There have been so many strawberry recipes on the blogs this week that it's nice to see them used in a different way- I've never made any kind of syrup, but this sounds so easy! And strawberry + vanilla? I'm in!

(Off to wipe the drool from my face...)

  2. I'm loving these syrups, Donna, especially that orange amaretto! I love to experiment with unusual pancake recipes, and sometimes maple just doesn't work...

  3. I think I am going to use the strawberry syrup for my cupcakes filling

  4. I made this syrup this past Sunday... wow was it good! I only made enough for three servings, but it was well worth it. Definitely will be making more!

  5. Im going to try this as my Grand girls and I love strawberries and this would be great on some cream cheese pancakes!!!!! I'll let ya know how it comes out.

  6. Super easy recipe. I didn't care for the vanilla flavor in the strawberries, so I made another batch with just sugar and strawberries and it was wonderful. To each his own!

    1. Another favorite variation is using orange juice in place of the vanilla. It gives it a fabulous depth and brightness. Thanks for stopping by!

  7. Can you trade off with a sugar substitute?? Thanks!!

    1. I have never tried it myself, but it makes perfect sense. Use a sugar substitute that you have cooked with before. Splenda cooks well and I have heard Swerve cooks very well too. Let me know how it goes. Enjoy!

  8. Is there a way to use different fruits like blueberries, raspberries or a mixture of berries?

  9. Can you replace the strawberries with a different fruit such as blueberries, raspberries and/or mixed fruits?

  10. Can I freeze this in the jars? How long will it last in the refrigerator? I love your site!

  11. Can I freeze this in the jars? How long will it last in the refrigerator?

  12. hi there, I was wondering how long this would be good stored in the refrigerator, can it be frozen once made?

  13. I know I'd use this on ice-cream! Pinning it!

  14. I have frozen this in freezer safe containers leaving about 1 inch air space for expansion

  15. I love strawberry syrup and this is so easy! Thanks!

  16. Have made this several times and have given as gifts as well. Also have used Almond extract in place of the vanilla

  17. Does this get thick if I refrigerate it?
