Bacon Cheese Sauce Over Pasta in 20 Minutes

Sometimes its the little things that makes your day complete.  Like recipe developing with your child.  It truly is something I have dreamed about and it did indeed come true.  One step at a time she is only 3, but I tell you that child has a passion for food already.  She flips through my food magazines and points out food that looks good and asks what it is.

Prep time: 10 MinCook time: 10 MinTotal time: 20 Min

  • 6 ounces bacon
  • 8 ounces farfalle pasta
  • Handful kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 4 ounces Italian blend shredded cheese
  • 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

  1. Using kitchen shears cut bacon to bite sized chunks and into a large skillet over medium high heat. Cook bacon until done.
  2. Meanwhile, fill an 8 quart pot with water, cover and bring to a boil over high heat. Add a small handful of salt (2 tablespoons) to boiling water and cook pasta until al dente (about 7-9 minutes). Pour peas into boiling water 2 minutes before end of cook time.
  3. Add flour to skillet and whisk to combine. Cook over medium heat for about 3-5 minutes stirring occasionally to cook out the flour-y taste. Add milk and whisk to combine. Add cheeses and stir.
  4. Remove from heat, reserve ½ cup pasta water, and drain when done. Add pasta and peas to skillet and stir to combine. Add pasta water a little at a time until you have a perfect creamy consistency.
  5. Garnish with fresh parsley, serve and enjoy!
