This amazing bacon treat is perfect for a special occasion, holiday, or any day!  With brown sugar caramelized on the strips and a tiny hint of heat, this dish is sure to please.

Brown Sugar Bacon

This tasty sweet breakfast treat is a snap to make!

  1. Make the brown sugar rub. In a small bowl, combine the coating for the meat. There’s cayenne pepper in the blend; feel free to add more for a spicier flavor. Don’t have brown sugar, make your own.
  2. Coat the strips. One slice at a time, using your hands cover bacon in sugar mixture until well coated and lay onto broiler pan.
  3. Bake the bacon. Put pan on top shelf in oven and bake until crisp, approximately 15-20 minutes.

Recipe Tips

  • If your bacon slices are thick, you may need to increase the cook time.
  • Don’t be afraid to really rub the sugar into the strips – that’s why it’s called brown sugar bacon!
  • Keep any leftovers stored in an airtight container – even at room temperature is fine for a couple of days. Just avoid getting too much moisture into the container, or you’ll end up with soggy bacon strips.

  1. Candied bacon is the best. Even when I'm just pan-frying turkey bacon I throw a little brown sugar on the slices. Makes all the difference!

  2. Candied bacon is like crack! Great now I'm going to obsess over it until I go and buy some bacon & make it myself 🙂 That's not a bad thing, either!

  3. Hey chickie, I was wondering if you could make me exactly two slices of this and then I'll come pick it up? I don't dare make it for myself, but I am sorely tempted! The bacon in the fridge is calling to me.

  4. I have tried making this but my sugar all burns off. Help what am I doing wrong. Going to try again. Have to say your recipes are the best. Can't wait for my cook book. Thank-You.

How can brown sugar on bacon be so delicious?! The cayenne pepper adds the perfect flavor contrast to it! Yum!
