My thoughts have been consumed with cranberries. This Cranberry Almond Christmas Cake is exactly what I need to cure my craving. The recipe is easy and comes together in a snap.
All of my social media networks have been flooded with fall flavors and I tell you cranberries have been screaming at me. After seeing this cranberry cake on my friend Mary's blog and Taste of Home I had finally had enough. I had to try it!

Well if you know much about me, cake is my weakness. Crumb cake, cupcake, pancake, layer cake, sheet cake, cake balls... OK, before I start sounding like Bubba Gump let's move on. If you care to see into the inspiration behind my cake obsession check out our Cake Cake Cake Pinterest board.
A reader mentioned their favorite cobbler yesterday on our Facebook page and I got to thinking. In Florida, which is mostly southern whether y'all like it or not, we enjoyed many southern traditions. Cooking whole animals in a fire pit, drinking out of mason jars, muddin', 4 wheelin', and of course any reason to throw a get together. Would it surprise you to learn that I used to drive a big ol' pick up truck?

One of my best friends, YaYa celebrated her birthday last week. Of course I bake her a cake every year for her birthday. I have made a few different ones, but now she hints that she wants my Carrot Cake with Toasted Pecans. I can't blame her, it is a magnificent cake. Gorgeous and scrumptious.
But lately I have been really exhausted and the thought of preparing cake pans and washing all the bowls did not appeal to me in the least. So I decided to reinvent this cake. One bowl, one whisk, one sheet cake with a cream cheese frosting that tastes just like fluffy cheesecake.

How do I love fall? Let me count the ways: pumpkin, apple, caramel, cinnamon, cool weather, windows open, pumpkin. Well fall has officially arrived in Phoenix! Woot woot! The weather is changing, it is cool enough to smell the trees and flowers. A walk in the evening is beautiful and if you live close enough to my house you can catch a whiff of pumpkin wafting out my window.

End of summer or not, I am still not excited about baking cakes. Shocking, I know! Actually I am enjoying no-bake desserts. We have been loving frozen treats, trifles and cookie dough dips. Well, cakes have been on my mind like you wouldn't believe.
I mean have you checked out my cake dream board? I have lots of ideas for the fall. But summer berries and a cool kitchen is still on my mind. Strawberries have been plentiful and quite tasty. So Strawberry Shortcake No-Bake Icebox Cake it is!

I am wholly and completely saddened by the loss of my husbands family matriarch. "Great Grammy", is what we have been calling her since my daughter was born, left this earth to be with God in heaven. There is so much about Great Grammy that I love, so much that inspires me. Like how she lit up like the sun when my Munchkin was around. But being this is a food and travel blog, that is what I want to share with you.

Welcome, welcome, welcome!!! Don't you love it??? I can't get enough of the new blog design. I swear I just left it open on my browser all day on Saturday. Just taking it in. My family loves Christmas. L-O-V-E-S Christmas. I have been singing Christmas songs since at least June. With Beyora (our Christmas collectible store) being in full bloom this time of year (and psst! since we love you all so much, enter coupon code SLOWROASTER at checkout and get 10% off your order!) we really feel like a couple of Santa's elves, so it was perfectly fitting to get a facelift inspired by our favorite season.

I am so excited about Thanksgiving dinner this year. I have been asked to provide dessert. Unfortunately/fortunately I am not preparing dinner, but I am so happy to be participating. Of course, a chocolate dessert is a requirement, that I will share with you soon. But, I wanted to make something really fabulous and perfectly seasonal. I also need something really simple and spectacular.

Black and white cupcakes aren't just pretty to look at. Yes, they are impressive but the flavor is most incredible. Perfectly moist and chocolaty cake topped with a rich chocolate ganache and a thick and creamy vanilla bean cream cheese frosting.

After finding how much I love apples in baked good, a cake or cupcake wasn't far behind these amazing cookies. This cupcake is sensational. The recipe was created to be a spin on a carrot cake, using grated apple in place of the carrots. It is warm , moist and amazing. The caramel filling and vanilla bean cream cheese frosting push this cupcake over the top. Such amazing Autumn flavor.

My munchkins new favorite 'cookies' are these Spiced Cranberry Banana Cookie Cake Bites! Soft and chewy, they are naturally sweet, moist and so healthy. I was quite surprised that my sugar princess enjoyed these so much. But, then again I love them too!

I love the summer for all its bounty. The fabulous berries, squash, melons, and beans just to name a few. I especially love the peaches, but seeing them arrive is bittersweet. You are excited to eat them, but it is a sure sign summer produce is coming to an end!

This vanilla custard is so good you will have to hide the bowl. Really, behind the veggies is a good place. I stick mine in the crisper drawer, seriously Chad (meat and potatoes man) is never going to look in there. Munchkin is too little still. That is actually a great place to hide small Christmas presents too! Ok, yes I have. shhhh!
Really, get the recipe for the cupcake!!! It is unbelievable in its entirety. Make a double batch of the vanilla custard and enjoy... with a spoon in the middle of the night when no one is watching. So, you can truly savor ever moment. Trust me it is Ahhhhh Mazing!!! Complete with time saving tips...
